ABOUT LOCUST LOFTS
Renovations for these two buildings on
Locust Street include both commercial and residential use. The
project included new elevators, a restored store front, and
replacement cornices for the facades of both buildings. Also
included in this $5.1 million dollar project is a new underground
parking garage and street improvements.
1121-23 Locust, originally home to the Hollywood Rubber Stamp
Co, will have retail at the ground level with eight residential condominiums
above. The 1113-15 Locust building, which housed the the Spool Cotton Co,
will be commercial condominiums.
Both of these buildings are listed with the
National Historic Register.
WHAT STAAT PROVIDED
Staat Tuckpointing provided full restoration on both of the structures
including; pressure washing, restoration cleaning, tuckpointing, and masonry
sealants. We will roughed in new brick window openings and provided a
large amount of masonry reconstruction, including rebuilding brick
piers and a section of wall which was near collapse.

The Landmarks Association of Saint
Louis recognized the Alexander Lofts and The Spool Thread Building
as one of the 11 "Most Enhanced Buildings" in St. Louis during
National Preservation Week in May. |
